A tragic misstep in evolution

- You're not a Christian, so what do you believe?

- I consider myself a realist, but in philosophical terms I'm a pessimist.

- What's that mean?

- It means I'm bad at parties.

- Let me tell you: you ain't great outside of parties either.

- ... I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in evolution. We became to self-aware. Nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself. We are creatures that should not exist by natural law… We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self, a secretion of sensory, experience, and feeling — programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everybody is nobody. The honorable thing for our species to do is to deny our programming, stop reproducing and walk hand in hand into extinction, one last midnight, brothers and sisters, — out of a raw deal. 

True Detective (S01E01)

J'ai déjà dû écrire ici que je ne regardais les séries que lorsque la postérité leur a conféré une importance notable (the Wire récemment, peut-être bientôt les Sopranos)

Je m'apprête à faire une exception avec True Detective, dont les quelques images perçues au vol avant sa diffusion m'ont interpellé. Très belle photographie, ambiance troublante, et casting alléchant (Matthew McConaughey, vu dans Mud cette année)
